Boddie Balance™ was born out of necessity — when a physical therapist and new mother couldn't find a single product that helped her pump comfortably. So she built one from scratch.

The Founder
Micolene Boddie is a licensed Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with deep roots in rehabilitation, movement science, and clinical care.
When she became a mother herself, she experienced the exhausting reality of breastfeeding: hunched over, arms holding flanges in place, unable to rest or work during sessions. As someone trained to understand body mechanics and spinal alignment, she recognized immediately that every available "nursing chair" was fundamentally backwards — designed to recline when the body naturally leans forward while focused and at work.
She couldn't find a solution. So she designed one.
The first prototype of what would become the Restful Pump® Chair was built in her home. Over the following years, she filed patents in five countries, conducted clinical research, brought the product to national television, and presented at industry conferences across the country — all while running her healthcare practice.
In 2026, Restful Pump® evolved into Boddie Balance™ Positioning Systems — a broader brand that reflects the full vision: ergonomic, forward-leaning support for every body, not just lactating mothers.
Credentials
The Journey
Micolene Boddie, PT, experienced severe discomfort during breast pumping and found nothing on the market addressed the root cause: poor ergonomic positioning. She designed the forward-leaning Restful Pump® Chair — the world's first gravity-assisted ergonomic positioning system for breast pumping.
A preliminary case study documented measured improvements using the forward-lean position: +21.8% more milk per session, +12.5% faster flow rate. Subject was a physician-in-training — providing exceptionally credible, self-recorded data. Submitted to the Journal of Clinical Lactation. A second IRB-supervised study is currently underway.
Restful Pump® was featured on CNBC, the Discovery Life Channel, and the award-winning public television series Empowered with Meg Ryan — reaching millions of viewers and establishing the brand as a credible healthcare innovation.
Intellectual property protected in the USA, European Union (27 countries), Australia, Canada, and China. 18+ patents granted, pending, or in continuance. 16+ active Restful Pump® products in distribution across 30+ countries.
Exhibited at ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas (2024 & 2025), Women's Health Innovation Summit in Boston, Prego Expo in Chicago and Orlando, and the International IBCLC Conference in Tampa. The product has been consistently well-received by healthcare professionals, corporate buyers, and parents alike.
The success of the lactation system — and the broad appeal of its ergonomic design to non-nursing users — made clear that the product was bigger than its original use case. Boddie Balance™ Positioning Systems launches with the Kickstarter campaign on August 15, 2026, targeting $2–4 million in funding to scale manufacturing and complete the full product line.
Built to Scale
The clinical thinking behind Boddie Balance is already being applied beyond the chair — to shoulder, wrist, and back ergonomics — building a full line of effective, medical-grade devices for every body.
