Everything you need to know about the Boddie Balance™ Positioning System — from clinical research to reservations.
What is the Boddie Balance™ Positioning System?
The Boddie Balance™ Positioning System is the world's first forward-leaning, gravity-assisted ergonomic positioning system — engineered by a licensed Physical Therapist and mother. Unlike traditional nursing chairs that recline backward, the Boddie Balance system positions your body at a 30–45° forward lean, working with gravity to support breast pumping, posture, rest, and productivity.
Who is it designed for?
The system was founded in lactation support but designed for everyone who sits. Primary users include postpartum and lactating mothers, individuals with back, neck, or shoulder pain, corporate professionals, and medical facilities. The chair supports pumping, resting, working, and multitasking — making it useful far beyond breastfeeding.
How is it different from a regular nursing chair or recliner?
Traditional nursing chairs recline — but the body naturally leans forward during focused activity. Our system is the only one on the market engineered for forward-leaning positioning, which uses gravity to assist milk expression, reduce spinal compression, and relieve neck and shoulder strain. No other chair on the market replicates this patented design.
Is it a medical device?
Yes. The Boddie Balance™ Chair is a Class I Medical Device. Our product line also includes Class II devices under development. The chair was designed by a licensed Physical Therapist and is supported by a preliminary case study submitted for publication in the Journal of Clinical Lactation.
What pumps and accessories is it compatible with?
The system is compatible with any mechanical or manual breast pump on the market. The Premiere Lactation Positioning System includes specialized lactation accessories — and the removable design accommodates pump-in-bra users. The Boom Arm Accessory ($49) holds a heated massager and fits all system tiers.
What are the three product tiers?
Core Chair ($1,550 Kickstarter / $2,550 MSRP): Full forward-leaning ergonomic support with plush core cushion, headrest, and kneepads. Lactation accessories optional. Ultimate Workstation ($1,750 Kickstarter / $2,750 MSRP): Adds full workstation support at 30° and 45° forward-lean angles. PremiereـLactation Positioning System ($1,950 Kickstarter / $2,950 MSRP): The Ultimate Workstation plus all lactation accessories — removable for pump-in-bra users.
Is there a rental option?
Yes. The Boddie Balance Rental Program offers the full Premiere Lactation Positioning System at $199/month — targeted at residential mothers and corporate lactation suites. Fees: $99 reservation fee (refundable security deposit) + $99 one-time non-refundable refurbishment fee at rental start + $199/month beginning on delivery. A 3-month minimum applies, then month-to-month. See the full Rental Policy at BoddieBalance.com/rental-policy.
What is the Boom Arm Accessory?
The Handsfree Heater Massager Boom Arm ($49) is an add-on attachment that holds a heated massager hands-free during pumping sessions. It features a universal holder, flexible arm, secure T-bar attachment, and sliding T-bar mount. Available exclusively with the Premiere Lactation Positioning System. Note: the heated massager unit is sold separately.
What does Kickstarter pricing mean?
Kickstarter pricing is our early-backer rate — available only during the crowdfunding campaign launching August 15, 2026. Kickstarter backers save up to $1,000 off MSRP. Reserving now with your $99 fee locks in this pricing for you before the campaign opens publicly.
What is the $99 reservation fee for rentals?
The $99 rental reservation fee functions as a refundable security deposit. It secures your spot in our first rental fleet and is returned when your rental ends, pending inspection of the chair upon return. Normal wear and tear does not affect the refund.
What is the $99 refurbishment fee?
The refurbishment fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee collected at the start of your rental. It covers professional cleaning, sanitization, and preparation of the chair before and after your rental. This fee ensures every renter receives a thoroughly cleaned, certified unit.
Is there a minimum rental commitment?
Yes — a 3-month minimum rental period applies. After the initial 3 months, your rental continues month-to-month at $199/month. You may cancel with 30 days' notice at any time after completing the minimum period.
When does my $199/month charge begin?
Monthly charges begin on the date your chair is delivered to you — not on the date you reserve. You are not charged until your chair arrives.
Who pays for shipping?
Outbound shipping — delivering the chair to you — is the customer's responsibility. Return shipping is covered by Boddie Balance for rentals of 6 months or longer. For rentals under 6 months, a return shipping fee applies (confirmed at time of return).
How do I return the chair?
Notify us within your last 30-day intended rental period and request a return shipment label at [email protected]. A pickup will be scheduled by our shipping partner at your designated location. Failure to provide 30 days' notice will result in an additional month's charge.
Can I buy the chair during or after my rental?
Yes — a buyout option is available to active renters at any time. Contact [email protected] to discuss buyout pricing.
What is the $99 reservation fee?
The $99 reservation fee secures your spot in the first production run (May 2027 shipment) and locks in your Kickstarter-tier pricing. It is fully refundable at any time before your order ships — no questions asked.
Is the $99 fee refundable?
Yes — 100% refundable. If you change your mind at any point before your chair ships, we will refund your $99 reservation fee in full.
How do I complete my reservation?
Fill out the reservation form at BoddieBalance.com/reserve. Select your system tier and quantity, then complete the secure $99 payment. You will receive an email confirmation once your spot is secured.
When will my chair ship?
The first production run is targeted for May 2027. Reservation holders are first in line and will receive shipping updates by email as we approach the production date.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we ship within the United States only. International availability will be announced following the Kickstarter campaign.
Can I reserve multiple chairs for a corporate lactation suite?
Absolutely. Select 6–10 (corporate fleet) or 10+ (enterprise) in the reservation form, and our team will follow up with corporate fleet pricing and a dedicated account manager.
Has the chair been clinically tested?
Yes. A preliminary case study was conducted and submitted for publication. Results showed an average increase in milk volume per session of +21.8% (5.5 oz to 6.7 oz) and a flow rate improvement of +12.5%. An IRB-supervised clinical study is currently in progress.
Is the chair FDA cleared?
The Boddie Balance™ Chair is a Class I Medical Device. As required by law, Class I devices are exempt from FDA premarket review but are subject to general controls. Statements about the device have not been evaluated by the FDA for the treatment or prevention of any condition.
Is the chair safe to use postpartum?
The system was designed by a licensed Physical Therapist specifically to reduce the physical strain of postpartum breastfeeding and pumping. As with any medical or therapeutic device, consult your healthcare provider if you have specific postpartum or medical concerns before use.
Can our company add Boddie Balance chairs to our lactation suite?
Yes — corporate lactation suites are one of our primary markets. We serve major corporations, law firms, universities, hospitals, and public venues. Contact us at [email protected] or use the corporate fleet option in the reservation form to discuss bulk pricing, leasing, and dedicated support.
Do you offer rental programs for corporate suites?
Yes. The $199/month rental option is available for corporate clients. This includes regular maintenance support and replacement options. Contact us for multi-unit corporate rental pricing.
Can the chair be used in medical or clinical settings?

When does the Kickstarter launch?
The Boddie Balance™ Kickstarter campaign is scheduled to launch August 15, 2026. The campaign will run for 60 days through October 15, 2026. Reserving now with your $99 fee locks in backer pricing before the campaign opens.
What is the Kickstarter funding goal?
We are raising $2–4 million to fund the first manufacturing run, complete our rebranding, and expand the Boddie Balance product line. Every reservation helps us demonstrate pre-launch demand to our manufacturing partners.
What happens if the Kickstarter does not reach its goal?
